LAZY FRIDAY: TREE-MENDOUS PARTIES!

Anyone out there up for a party – and tree-mendous fun this weekend ?

If so, the BBC’s Breathing Places is organising tree parties in cities around the country tomorrow, November 10 – and everyone is invited.

Every party will be different but could include tree planting, bark rubbing, a tree party leaf hunt, woodland walks or mask-making. Some parties will be taking place at local libraries while others are based in local nature or woodland areas.

At Manchester’s Blackley Forest for example, an avenue of trees is being planted to commemorate soldiers killed in the Second World War and this will be followed by activities such as tree dressing, tree trails and seed gathering.

Times and dates of parties vary but you can get details of events in your area here.

And if you can’t find one within easy travelling distance, you could always organise your own tree party with family and friends. The BBC has put together a downloadable pocket guide which gives advice on arranging a party and tips on activities you could organise.
