SERIOUS MONDAY: TIDBITS SECTION

Marks and Spencer released an update on packaging targets. 70% of the packaging used is recyclable. 20% more could be recycled and they are working with government officials on how to obtain this goal.

The Chevron Corporation has committed $500,000 to support relief efforts in the communities affected by the Southern California wildfires. $400,000 will go to the American Red Cross and $100,000 will go to local charities.

BP Products North America has agreed to pay a total CRIMINAL fine of $60 million dollars for federal violations in Texas and Alaska. In addition, BP will spend $400 million on safety upgrades and improvements to prevent future chemical releases and spills.

UK Environmental Minister Joan Ruddock visited the Sloy Power Station on Loch Lomondside to see Scottish and Southern Energy’s facility there and to learn more about the company’s new development at Glendoe, near Loch Ness.
