Citroen has been named “Car Manufacturer of the Year” at the GreenFleet Awards for the second year in a row. Runners up included Toyota and Honda.

Citroen was commended for its “continuing moves to reduce the environmental impact of its vehicles.” Citroen was a runner up in two other categories, the “Green Marketing Campaign and the LCV Manufacturer of the Year.”

The company is preparing to unveil at the Frankfurt Motor show, three new vehicles that incorporate major new green initiatives. The C-Cactus with its diesel hybrid drive train, the C-5 Airscape equipped with an Urban Hybrid System and the C4 Bioflex which can run on E85 bioethanol.

Citroen offers consumers a range of fuel efficient and lower CO2 emission vehicles in the UK. Over 40% of sales are diesel, with ultra clean diesel Particulate Filter Systems widely available and they are, most importantly at affordable prices.

Three of the top ten lowest CO2 emitting diesel vehicles sold in the UK, are Citroens.

The GreenFleet awards promote ways of reducing emissions and increasing awareness among those responsible for transport procurement, about making greener fuel and vehicle decisions. The awards were judged by representatives from the Institute of Car Fleet Management, the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and GreenFleet Magazine.
