Technip Group, a gas, oil and petrochemical Engineering Corporation based in Paris, France has been awarded an engineering contract for a “green energy” project in Florida.

Bio Mass Investment Group is building a biomass power plant which will use E-Grass as a farm grown energy crop. E-Grass is a perennial plant that resembles bamboo or sugar cane. It grows rapidly, requires little water and mineral needs and that makes E-Grass a good energy crop according to Bio Mass.

“It will be the world’s first large-scale operation for producing electricity from a crop grown specifically for a conversion into power,” stated Technip in a press release.

The benefits are no net carbon emissions, low power plant emissions and it is good from an agricultural stand point.

Technip’s Operations and Engineering Center in Claremont, California will carry out the design of the project.

The plant will be the world’s first E-Grass fired power plant to sell green electricity to utilities.
