Recently unveiled by Boeing, the 787 dreamliner is designed to revolutionize air travel.

BOEING 787 DREAMLINER

Betting on another market than its competitor, Boeing launches a mid-sized jet. Success may be on the way as orders already rise.

But the true success of the Boeing 787 might be its unique conception allowing it to reduce fuel consumption by 20% while pumping out fewer greenhouse gazes.

Plastic composite was largely used instead of aliminium; 50% of the primary structure is made of composites, stronger and lighter than other materials, hence the fuel savings.

The Boeing 787 is not only interesting from a green point of view but it’s also a new class of comfort that Boeing brings to the mid-size airplane category: bigger windows, higher humidity level to prevent passengers dehydration and better in-cabin noise management.

The Boeing 787 definitely sets the bar pretty high as it looks like a plane every company should have in its fleet. And they have some time ahead since Airbus won’t be able to release its A350 before 2013.

Airplane industry is on the right track.

Check this out. Google Images, GB-888A. Compared to the tubes, this 1964 Burnelli design would be built in 1/2 the time, cost 1/2 or less, use 1/2 or less the runway (takeoff/land @ 110 mph), carry more than twice the load (easily over 800) using the same amount of fuel and easily cut your fares by 30 to 50%, and, above all save the lives of thousands of future flyers in survivable accidents.

The 787 could do little of this, barely lower airfare (temporarily) and pretty much zero crash survivability “and” with the astronomical price tag and long production your airfare will only increase after the initial lower, introductory fares.
