The #1 fast-food chain shows good progress in its attempts to get greener. Will McDonald’s become a 100% bio restaurant?
MCDONALD’S GETS GREENER AND GREENER
Latest initiative from McDonald’s UK was announced last Monday: spent cooking oil will be turned into bio-diesel fuel, which will be used by their vans.
This is part of a global effort from McDonald’s to rise to the sustainable standards. It goes along with the introduction (a few years ago already) of organic or sustainably growned products as well as the information provided about products traceability and the restyling of some of McDonald’s restaurants. Thus, with such commitment McDonald’s could become a “genuine” bio restaurant.
My bet is that McDonald’s will serve about 80% organic products and be one of the largest bio restaurants chain by 10 years. Anyone?

Even if McDonald’s becomes a “bio” restaurant, this does not mean it’s any healthier. You can still have really fatty organic food.
That’s right. However, I believe the food quality will also improve by then and get a lot healthier. I haven’t eaten at McDonald’s in years and believe me I won’t until they drastically change their philosophy and food.
But this bio-diesel initiative is still good point, let’s encourage them!
